Terms of Engagement

Draft template — not yet reviewed or published.

Note for PIXL IT: this is a starting template for scoped, project-based work (web design, bespoke application development) — it isn't a substitute for a solicitor-reviewed contract. Have it checked by a solicitor before using it, and fill in real figures for deposits, payment schedules and any project-specific detail before sending it to a client. Your rolling managed-IT-support agreements are a separate matter and aren't covered here.

Who this applies to

These terms cover scoped project work carried out by PIXL IT Limited ("PIXL IT", "we", "us") — for example, a website build or a bespoke software project — for a client ("you"). They apply alongside any quote or proposal we send you, which sets out the specific scope, price and timeline for your project.

Quotes and scope

Every project starts with a written quote describing what's included. Work outside that scope — new features, extra design rounds, changes of direction once build has started — is treated as a change request and quoted separately before we proceed, so there are no surprise costs.

Payment

Projects are typically billed in stages: a deposit to begin work, one or more milestone payments as the project progresses, and a final payment on completion, before the finished work is handed over. Exact amounts and dates are set out in your quote.

Timelines

We give a realistic timeline in your quote based on the agreed scope. Delays caused by late feedback, missing content, or change requests on your side may extend that timeline — we'll always flag this as soon as we see it happening, not after the fact.

Intellectual property

Ownership of the final website or application transfers to you once it's paid for in full. Any underlying tools, frameworks or reusable components we bring to the project remain ours. Unless you tell us otherwise, we may reference completed projects in our own portfolio and marketing.

Support after handover

What's included after launch — bug fixes, hosting, minor updates — is set out in your quote. Anything beyond that is available as ongoing support, billed separately or folded into a managed IT agreement if you're already a support client.

Cancellation

Either party can end a project with written notice. You pay for work completed up to that point; any deposit already paid for work not yet carried out is refunded.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England & Wales.
